Along with a brand new, bespoke building, Long Hanborough Playgroup (Ofsted rated 'Good' in June 2017) has a brand new name: Hanborough Meadows Pre-School. Officially opened on 23rd February 2019, Hanborough Meadows Pre-School is the next chapter in Long Hanborough Playgroup's history.
Founded by local mum, Sue Gibson, the Playgroup began in what was the British Legion Hall in Long Hanborough and finally in 1984 after tireless fundraising, Playgroup was able to acquire it's own building in the grounds of Hanborough Manor School. Here it had remained ever since. However due to recent development and expansion of the village, the associated need for greater pre-school provision and school expansion, Long Hanborough Playgroup was given the opportunity to move to a new purpose built setting on the Cala Homes Development on it's own land. Over the last 2 years Staff, Committee and Parents have fundraised over £19,000 to internally and externally equip the building to ensure it's children thrive. The move seemed like a great opportunity to also change the name to better reflect what we do; provide high quality pre-school education for 2-5 year olds with a strong emphasis on outdoor learning.
Continuous improvement is important to us and as part of our parent partnership ethos we conducted a Parent Questionnaire in the Summer Term of 2018. 100% of parents who responded reported that they found the overall service, the standard of care and warmth and the opportunities for free flow and outdoor play as 'Excellent'.
Some additional comments include:
'(A) lovely team of people, couldn't ask for better care.'
'The staff have been amazing with our child, they have gone out of their way to get to know her and settle her in.'
'Friendly, caring and supportive Staff, and very interesting activities for the children.'
'We are really happy with the thorough assessment of our child's needs and that activities are planned to meet those needs for development.'
