'People in our Community'

January 2020

This term the children will be learning about 'People in our Community'. Many different professionals will be coming to visit the children, answer their questions and talk to them about their job. The children were so excited when fire-fighters came to visit them along with their fire engine! Also coming to visit is a vet, Doctor, Police Officer, builder, film producer and hairdresser.

Christmas Party with Zoolab

19th December 2019

The children (and parents) had a lovely time at this year's Christmas party. They sang some festive songs and were thoroughly entertained by Zoolab who told a wonderful Christmas tale incorporating some exotic animals. The children loved it! After they had finished stroking the stick insect, giant snail and snake, holding the rat and closely looking at the tarantula (!) they enjoyed  a festive tea party and a visit from Father Christmas who gave them each a gift. It was the perfect end to the term. See you all in the New Year. Happy Christmas from all at Hanborough Meadows Pre-School.

Christmas Wreath Making Workshop

15th December 2019

We had a full house at our festive fundraising event on Sunday 15th December. Sounds cheesy but it definitely put the FUN into 'fun-draising'. Rosie James and Leslie Jenkins guided our 25 guests through the process of making their Christmas wreaths, wading through lots of gorgeous foliage to make our festive creations as well as adding our own flourishes. The resulting wreaths were all beautiful but all totally different. We had a really relaxing, fun and creative evening and it was great to learn a new skill. Everyone enjoyed some festive treats and we raised over £500 for Pre-School (final amount TBC) which is amazing! Thanks so much to everyone who came and also Rosie and Leslie who did a wonderful job teaching us.

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

November 2019

At Hanborough Meadows we are preparing for the festive season. The children will be celebrating Christmas with their party on 19th December. They will have a visit from Zoolab who will share a Christmas story.... and their creepy crawly friends. The children will be singing some Christmas songs and there might even be a visit from Santa himself!

We are really excited to be able to run this fundraising event with the help of two talented local florists, Rosie James and Leslie Jenkins. It is set to be a really lovely evening of festive crafting and is currently sold out!

Fundraising continues to be so important to Hanborough Meadows Pre-School; enabling us to ensure our staff receive the best opportunities and training, and that we can offer our children the highest quality of resources.

More fun with the Elderberries!

13th November 2019

Today we visited our friends at Elderberries again for more fun; reading, singing and even a drink and snack. Both the elders and the youngsters, had a lovely time and were so happy to spend time together. We are looking forward to many more visits in the future.

Ruth Nuttall School of Dance

Autumn Term 2019

This term we have been enjoying weekly sessions with Miss Nuttall. The children love the dance and movement sessions that she delivers. Every child has had the chance to participate as she has alternated the days which she visits. In these photos the children used scarves and ribbons to whoosh and whizz like fireworks.

Grand Conker Challenge

Autumn 2019

Following last year's success, the children again embarked on the Grand Conker Challenge. With prizes for the biggest conker and the most collected, the children were sponsored by friends and family and successfully fundraised £350 which is an amazing achievement!

Long Hanborough Community Tree Project

October 2019

The Long Hanborough Community Tree Project is a wonderful initiative set up by a local family to plant trees down the Coffin Path from the village to Pinsley Wood. With permission from Blenheim Estates, the Long Hanborough Tree Project has fundraised and sought donations of trees to be planted by local community groups including Hanborough Meadows Pre-School. Our Forest Rangers very much enjoyed getting their hands dirty and planting two trees. They got involved at every stage of the process. How wonderful that as they grow, the children can visit their trees for years to come. What an amazing legacy for this generation of pre-schoolers.

Hanborough Show

14th September 2019

Thankfully the sun was shining today (unlike the last 2 years) on the Hanborough Show. There was a wonderful atmosphere for this event which brought the whole community together. Hanborough Meadows Pre-School were lucky enough to have a stall again this year. Thanks to those parents and Staff who volunteered and special thanks to Mrs Townsend who made the amazing cake for our 'Guess the weight of the cake' activity. Children and parents alike enjoyed our 'Cactus Alley' skills game and the ever popular sweet tombola. Overall we had great fun and enjoyed talking to many of our existing families as well as past alumni of Hanborough Meadows Pre-School/ Long Hanborough Playgroup. We even raised a few pennies for our fundraising pot. Many thanks to the organisers!

Our First Day of Term

3rd September 2019
